Great Divide, 2011 Barrel-Aged Yeti 12.2% ABV 750ml – capped (750ml Barrel-Aged Series)
A: Pours a pitch black similar to motor oil. The head is a deep brown but fades very quickly. Not much lacing but extreme legs.
S: Hershey Kisses! Rich dark chocolate with sugar sweetness backing it up. There are oak and sweet whiskey flavors that are very present.
T: Massive and complex. The taste on this is the best part. Great blend of chocolate, roastiness, booze, whiskey, oak and vanilla from the barrel. Alcohol and roastiness on the back. Balance is perfect as it warms.
M: Full bodied but not nearly as heavy as I would have imagined it would could be. Light carbonation – silky finish.
O: One of the best barrel-aged imperial stouts on the market. The chocolate, coffee, vanilla, whiskey, and oaky characters are so well balanced it could almost be a staple in the industry. Easily shareable amongst a group of friends. $45 a bottle spilit 4 ways = $11.25 for a 6oz pour. Very good F-ing deal.
